TV picks: 'Sharknado: The 4th Awakens,' MTV gets 'Classic,' 'Koko - The Gorilla Who Talks' and more

* SHARKNADO: THE 4TH AWAKENS. 9 p.m. Sunday, Syfy. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to your TV set, Ian Ziering and Tara Reid (pictured) return in the latest incarnation of the franchise that mixes sharks and storms, with predictably gory results. This one features the return of David Hasselhoff.

Happy birthday, MTV! On Monday, 35 years to the day after the once-music-focused channel made its debut, the current-day channel that's been known as VH1 Classic will be renamed MTV Classic. If you are up at 6 a.m., you can catch a

rerun of the first hour of MTV from 1981.

* KOKO - THE GORILLA

WHO TALKS. 8 p.m. Wednesday, WHYY12.

Koko, the gorilla who became famous for learning to communicate through a modified version of American Sign Language, is now 45. This documentary looks at her life now and continuing relationship with her handler, Penny Patterson.

* KILLING THE COLORADO.

9 p.m. Thursday, Discovery.

Five Oscar-winning filmmakers, including Barbara Kopple (Harlan County U.S.A.), participated in the making of this film, which looks at the water crisis in the West and how it has affected the Colorado River. It's presented in association with ProPublica, based on a series by reporter Abrahm Lustgarten.
