Valentine's Day @ the PFS Roxy
Noon to 10:15 p.m. Sunday at the PFS at the Roxy

Bring some beer or a bottle of wine for a BYO party featuring a daylong program of films about love in all its shades, including Rob Reiner's divine fantasy, The Princess Bride (rated PG; at noon); the deliciously dangerous noir Double Indemnity (no MPAA rating; 2:10 p.m.), Romeo + Juliet featuring the young Leonardo DiCaprio (PG-13; 4:30 p.m.), and James Cameron's Titanic, pairing Leo with Kate Winslet (PG-13; 7 p.m.)

Doctor Zhivago
7 p.m. Wednesday at Bryn Mawr Film Institute

Valentine's week wouldn't be the same without a dose of heavy existentialist Russian romance. David Lean's spectacular, 197-minute adaptation of Boris Pasternak's classic novel stars Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, and Geraldine Chaplin. A white Russian cocktail will be served prior to the screening. PG-13

Race

This timely, politically charged sports biopic from Stephen Hopkins (The Life and Death of Peter Sellers) stars Stephan James (The Book of Negroes) as the legendary American athlete Jesse Owens, who won a record-setting four gold medals at the Nazi-hosted 1936 Olympics in Berlin. PG-13
