Will Susan's first romance come to a Boyle?

SUSAN BOYLE, the shy, big-voiced Scot who transformed herself from an unknown, church-choir cat lady into a global singing star following a head-turning audition on "Britain's Got Talent," has got a boyfriend.

Allegedly her first.

And he's a doctor from Connecticut.

If only Boyle had a Jewish mother. She'd kvell.

Boyle met the man on her recent U.S. tour and he may soon visit her in Scotland.

"That's the plan," Boyle's spokeswoman, Nicola Phillips, said yesterday. "She met someone when she was in America and the idea is that he can come here."

Boyle and the doctor met at a hotel in Clearwater, Fla., Phillips said, adding that Boyle is "definitely" happy to have met someone.

Boyle said at the time of her audition - "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables" - she had never been kissed.

Since her breakthrough, she has upgraded her wardrobe, received an honorary doctorate, performed for Pope Benedict XVI, sung with her idol Elaine Paige and wowed Las Vegas.

But the pressures of performing have sometimes overwhelmed her, and she was treated for nervous exhaustion after her "Britain's Got Talent" run focused national attention on her.

Boyle told the London Sun that the doctor she met in the U.S. was a "perfect gentleman" and that they enjoyed each other's company. She said the relationship was in its "early days," but she hopes he will visit her.

ThatOregonlife.com made up a story to commemorate Black Friday craziness, claiming that the men (and perhaps a few women) of Portland rioted over a Black Friday sale at Casa Diablo, the world's first vegan strip club.

The club held its first ever Black Friday sale - and no, Black Friday was not one of the dancers - with 24 booty shakers offering 59-cents-a-minute (10-minute maximum) lap dances.

"We were utterly blown away by the amount of customers who showed up this morning," said Cruelty-free Cleopatra, one of the club's most popular dancers.

"We don't normally have much trouble here at Casa Diablo," said club manager Renewable Rhonda. "I mean, the biggest incident we've had since we opened was a patron who had a little too much to drink, and demanded a refund on his lap dance when he realized Wendy Wheatgrass wasn't wearing a fair-trade garter. But this, this is just crazy!"

Although the story was a joke, the vegan strip club is not.

And it's the menu that's vegan, not the dancers.

* "Big Hero 6," "Cheatin'," "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "Song of the Sea," "The Book of Life," "The Boxtrolls," "The Lego Movie" and "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya" have earned nominations for the best animated feature for the 42nd Annie Awards.

The awards, presented by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, announced nominations yesterday morning in 36 categories for film, TV production, commercials, short subjects, video games, student films, and honorary and achievement awards.

Winners will be announced Jan. 31 at UCLA's Royce Hall.

* The lyrics of two early unrecorded Bob Dylan songs are going on the auction block.

Christie's says the typed lyrics being offered Thursday include handwritten annotations.

The original 1962 "Talkin' Folklore Center" manuscript could fetch $40,000 to $60,000.

The "Go Away You Bomb" lyrics from 1963 could bring $30,000 to $50,000.

Dylan gave the lyrics to the founder of the legendary Folklore Center in Greenwich Village. Izzy Young produced Dylan's first important concert in New York at the Carnegie Chapter Hall on Nov. 4, 1961.

"Go Away You Bomb" was written for an unpublished book Young was compiling of anti-nuclear songs.

Proceeds will support Young's current venture, the Folklore Centrum in Stockholm, Sweden.

* It's official, Kathy Griffin will replace the late, great Joan Rivers as host of "Fashion Police."

No offense to Griffin, but Tattle lobbied for Wanda Sykes.

* Speaking of Joan, here's what Chris Rock, promoting his new movie "Top Five," had to say about the death of Rivers in the new New York magazine:

"Who the hell's funnier than Joan Rivers?" Rock said. "The compliment you give of a comedian is: Who wants to follow them onstage? Nobody wanted to follow Joan Rivers, ever. Even in her 80s, nobody wanted to follow her."
