Sideshow: Apple's Cook comes out

"I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," says Apple head honcho Tim Cook in a new essay in Bloomberg Businessweek. Well, he may be proud, but he never acknowledged it publicly before. He said that announcing it "wasn't an easy choice." May we someday have a world in which it's easy. As it is, some behind-the-timesers, I guess, have their knickers in a bunch.

Cook is now one of the highest-ranking businesspeople of self-acknowledged same-sex orientation. Now, Tim, about this here bent iPhone. . . .

. . . is "tedious with my heterosexuality," he told Geoff Lloyd of Absolute Radio, after repulsing the latter when he leaned in for a mock-kiss. True, for his TV show, Brand did engage in a sex act with another man. But that was for TV, not for fulfillment. Brand says he wishes he were bisexual, but apparently he is only lady-liking. He's also ladyless at the moment, having split from Jemima Khan.

Lindsay Lohan is trying to be a professional actress. She's on the boards in London right now, doing David Mamet's play Speed-the-Plow. On Wednesday, she came down sick, and doctors told her to stay in bed. Two performances were threatened. LiLo tweeted regrets to her fans . . . but was a true trouper and was on stage that night.
