Sideshow: Dating: When a star's too bright for her dates

Dating's for the birds, man. Just look at Sheryl Crow, a 52-year-old single mom of two, who has survived breast cancer and a brain tumor.

Sheryl Crow still single

Dating's for the birds, man. Just look at Sheryl Crow, a 52-year-old single mom of two, who has survived breast cancer and a brain tumor.

Whenever she's on a date, she feels as if she has to dumb herself down.

"I had always gone out with guys who were highly successful, which would seem like it would put me at an equal level. But what ends up happening is that one of you becomes smaller - and it was always me. It's always the woman," the singer tells Good Housekeeping. "I mean, I don't know if it's always the woman, but I do think that sometimes in order for one person's light to shine, everyone else has to dim theirs."

Mercy killing on Broadway

Yo, Adrian, stop singing.

Rocky's song 'n' dance days are over, baby. The musical adaptation of Sylvester Stallone's Oscar-winner will close Aug. 17 after 28 previews and 188 performances. Take heart: The show has been running in Hamburg, Germany, since 2012. Another Broadway flop, the Tupac musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, will end Sunday, barely a month after opening to lousy reviews.

Prince George at 1!

Britain's greatest ruler-to-come, Baby George, celebrates his first b'day Tuesday, stoking rumors that his parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, both 32, are having another bairn.

Anonyous Source tells People plans are in place for the production of a sibling, but a time has yet to be set.

Lana Del Rey: Hurt me

Singer Lana Del Rey writes some interesting lyrics. Take this from the song "Ultraviolence": "He hurt me but it felt like true love."

How are we, her consumers, to hear such a line? That's what Rolling Stone asked the noirish singer.

"I just don't want them to hear it at all," she says. "I'm very selfish. I make everything for me. . . . I don't want them to hear it and think about it. It's none of their business!"

Hmm. So does that mean Lana herself bought 880,000 copies of the Ultraviolence album in its first week of release?
