FORMER CBS3 anchor Alycia Lane gave birth to her first child, a little girl named Averie, this weekend. Lane is between on-air gigs at the moment, after a stint at KNBC in Los Angeles, where she currently dwells.

Lane told me earlier this year that she'll restart the job hunt after she's settled in as a momma.

"She's beyond adorable," Lane wrote to me in a message. "Totally in love!!!"

Williams, Oates celebrated

Brian Williams, one of the greatest heads of hair in all of broadcast news, will be feted by Temple University for something other than his cranial follicles. Williams will receive the Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award from the School of Media and Communication on Sept. 26. Previous recipients include Whoopi Goldberg, Anderson Cooper, Ed Bradley, Robin Roberts and Matt Lauer.

Five alumni will also be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame, including Hall & Oates' own John Oates (who was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame), NBC10's Tracy Davidson, Anne Klein Communications Group's Gerhart L. Klein, Associated Press Washington reporter Larry Margasak and ESPN news editor (and former Inquirer trailblazer) Claire Smith.

Fingers majorly crossed for a duet of "Rich Girl" with Oates and Williams stepping in for Hall.

Rendell, the patron

Daily News columnist and former Gov. Ed Rendell commissioned a portrait of Bill and Hillary Clinton by Philly artist Caryn Kunkle. He'll unveil the portrait on the July 9 episode of "Power Your Life with Dr. Jo Anne White." The Clintons were so pleased with the portrait, they sent Kunkle a handwritten thank-you note, which Kunkle will also show off on the show. "Power Your Life" airs tomorrow at 8 p.m. on local channel WMCN.

Close-ups

* Philly's Chris Gullo will compete on "Jeopardy!" tonight. Catch him at 7 p.m. on 6ABC. Considering he is a poet, I'm thinking that he'll have some fun banter with host Alex Trebek during the intraround discussion.

Shawn Thomas of food-video service Tastemade shot two days of his show "Local Flight" at Square 1682 (121 S. 17th St.) in the Hotel Palomar. On the show, Thomas travels around the country, chats with top-notch bartenders in various cities, finds a local ingredient from each respective place and challenges said bartender to make a cocktail with the local ingredient.

OUT AND ABOUT

* Actor David Boreanaz, son of former 6ABC weather legend Dave Roberts, bopped around town while appearing at the Wizard World convention. I hear on Thursday he stopped by Dirty Franks (347 S. 13th St.), while on Friday night he and his agent stopped by bars Woody's (202 S. 13th St.) and Tavern on Camac (243 S Camac St.) for some dancing fun.

Buzzwhoops

Buzzfeed put up a quiz yesterday asking "How Philadelphia are you?" It queried Philadelphians to check every statement that applied to them, including some very inside baseball facts about our fair burg. The only problem? One line asked if you knew how to spell "Schuylkill." Too bad they spelled it "Schuykill."
