CNN honcho Jeff Zucker is expected to try out Philly broadcast personality Michael Smerconish for the 9 p.m. Piers Morgan slot that will be vacated March 28 by the British journalist, sources told Deadline.com. Smerconish recently joined CNN and will test along with colleagues Jake Tapper, Bill Weir and Don Lemon, the website said.

President Obama's six-minute appearance this week on Zach Galifianakis Funny or Die Web show "Between Two Ferns," not only netted yuks, but also increased traffic to HealthCare.gov. In other words, mission accomplished.
White House senior communications adviser Tara McGuinness tweeted that the website's traffic was up 40 percent Tuesday compared with Monday, TheWrap.com reported. She attributed the traffic jump to the video's 11 million views.

Actress/singer Doris Day will celebrate her 90th birthday next month with a fundraiser auction and tribute dinner at her boutique hotel, the Cypress Inn in Carmel, Calif. The funds will benefit her nonprofit Doris Day Animal Foundation and, in a statement, Day said, "I'm all about the four-leggers."

"Law & Order: SVU" actress Mariska Hargitay joined Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy who's seeking funding and legislation to help clear a backlog of 11,000 untested rape kits. Worthy has been slowly reviewing sexual-assault kits recovered in 2009 from a Detroit police storage facility.

Three Arab countries - Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates - have banned the upcoming Biblical movie "Noah" on religious grounds because "it contradicts Islam," a Paramount Pictures rep told Reuters.
