Sideshow: Amanda Bynes gets court date for pot charge

Amanda Bynes appeared in a Manhattan court Friday in a long, blond, moppy wig after being charged with pot possession after she (allegedly) tossed a bong out of a window in front of police officers. She was set free without bail and told to show up for a July 9 court date.

Amanda Bynes appeared in a Manhattan court Friday in a long, blond, moppy wig after being charged with pot possession after she (allegedly) tossed a bong out of a window in front of police officers. She was set free without bail and told to show up for a July 9 court date.

It was a wonderfully bizarre day in the star's life. "It was just a vase," Bynes told cops, according to assistant district attorney Chikaelo Ibeabuchi. Foxnews.com says the former Nickelodeon darling was given a psych evaluation before she was released. The unofficial findings? She's a bit crazy, but not a danger to herself or others.

Hudson on 'American Idol'?

Oscar-winning singer-actress Jennifer Hudson, who was on the third season of American Idol, may be headed back, this time as a judge. Sources tell E! News that Hudson, 31, signed a contract to join the Fox show for its 13th season.

Hudson may be part of an Idol-reunion gimmick, with the judges' table manned by former contestants. Kelly Clarkson and either Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken may join Hudson. No word from Fox.

Carrie, Blake give back

Checotah, Okla., native Carrie Underwood, 30, on Friday announced she will donate $1 mil in proceeds from her "Blown Away Tour" to the Red Cross for relief efforts in her home state.

"I have watched the devastation in my home state . . . with great sadness," says the American Idol (Season 4) winner. Fellow crooner and Sooner State native Blake Shelton, 36, says he'll headline a benefit concert, "Healing in the Heartland," Wednesday in Oklahoma City that'll be televised live on NBC.
