CONGRATULATIONS to Alison Young, who won the fifth annual Dancing with the Philadelphia Stars on Sunday night at the Crystal Tea Room. Young, the vice president of External Affairs for the National Constitution Center, danced the foxtrot with Paul Samuelnas from the Studio on Take the Lead on Pine. Young was clad in floor-length pink spandex, covered in rhinetstones.

She had no dance experience before.

Q102 DJ Maxwell came in second with the waltz, while Fox29's Kacie McDonnell came in third with the tango. Danielle Cohn, VP of Marketing & Communications at the PHLCVB won the viewer vote with the salsa.

Dancing with the Philadelphia Stars supports the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of America's Philadelphia/Delaware Valley chapter.

So after Young won Dancing with the Philadelphia Stars, what was she going to do next? "I'm going to the dancefloor with my 5-year-old niece who said she wanted to be my first pick for the next dance," Young said.

Phanatic, the star

I wouldn't be a gossip columnist worth my salt without a little red-carpet coverage, so I hopped down to South Philly on Sunday to attend the glamorous opening of the Phillie Phanatic's first film "The Time Travelin' Phanatic," conveniently opening on his birthday. Clad in purple robe, the Phanatic arrived in a limo and was escorted down the carpet by his loving mother, Phoebe.

Also at the event was Ben Franklin, who makes a cameo in "The Time Travelin' Phanatic." When asked about how he felt about supporting another Philadelphia icon, Franklin replied, "He's more famous than I am." Sharon Pinkenson, the executive director of the Philadelphia Film Office, looked stunning in a slinky gold number and gave the Phanatic a special award for his contributions to the film community. So, did "The Time Travelin' Phanatic" qualify for the film tax credit, meant to attract movie companies to film in our fair city? "No, it doesn't get a tax credit," Pinkenson said, "but I'll take economic development any day."

Joyner joins WNJC

Former Eagle Seth Joyner is the new voice at WNJC 1360AM. Joyner will be hosting the morning block from 7 to 9 a.m. Artie Clear serves as Joyner's co-host. Three-time pro-bowler Joyner broadcasts from his home in Arizona, while Clear is Philly-based.

Station owner John Forsythe said the show differed from sports juggernauts like WIP's Angelo Cataldi, who touches on other non-sports topics (i.e. Wing Bowl, lady-parts), and 97.5 The Fanatic's Mike and Mike in the Mornings, which goes national. Forsythe assured me that Joyner's show will be 90 percent local sports, 10 percent national talk.

OUT AND ABOUT

Flyers' right-winger Mike Knuble popped into South Philly's Scannicchio's for a quick lunch recently. Knuble, like the rest of the Flyers, will don a "Boston Strong" patch on his jersey and a sticker on his helmet during Tuesday's game against the Bruins. After the game, fans can bid on every player's jerseys at meigray.com.

Into 'Liquid'

Look to trip out your weekend? The Cinedelphia Film Festival, presented by the good folks at PhilaMOCA, will screen ultimate midnight movie "Liquid Sky" on Saturday, April 27, with a live score courtesy of the band Cheap Dinosaurs at 4 p.m.

The real kicker? Reclusive director Slava Tsukerman will be in attendance. A rare treat for cult-film nerds. Go to cffliquidsky.brownpapertickets.com to snap up tickets.
