Mutter lesson for Leo

So how did Leonardo DiCaprio learn to saw open a human skull with 1850s medical equipment for a scene in "Django Unchained"?

By watching an instructional video by Mutter Museum (19 S. 22nd) curator Anna Dhody.

The museum says Dhody received a request from the propmaster on the Quentin Tarantino film for instructions on how to properly saw a skull and decided it best to show, rather than tell.

NBC 10's Braxton engaged

Congratulations to NBC 10 reporter Monique Braxton and Dr. Reginald Royster, who owns Haverford Animal Hospital, who were engaged on Christmas Eve, friends say. The couple have been dating for a few years after being fixed up on a blind date. No wedding plans are set yet for what will be the second marriage for both Braxton and Royster.

OUT AND ABOUT

Shane Victorino went for a late-night meal Saturday at Little Pete's (219 S. 17th). The Flyin' Hawaiian, now with the Boston Red Sox, got up from his pancakes and bacon, egg and cheese sandwich to pose for a few photos with female fans, while hanging out with friends. Victorino, we're told, left a $40 tip on a bill of about the same amount.

* Also Saturday night, 6ABC anchor Monica Malpass and state Sen. Larry Farnese were at Rouge (205 S. 18th) in separate parties.

* "Smash" star Megan Hilty dropped by the Walnut Street Theatre to see "The Music Man" just before the new year. Hilty was in town with boyfriend Brian Gallagher, an actor in the touring production of "Jekyll and Hyde," which played the Forrest Theatre and starred "American Idol" alum Constantine Maroulis. Hilty has a friend involved with the "Music Man" production and told theater staff she loved the show, especially the child performers.
