Sideshow: Sweet song of seafood

Anyone can take the road to fame and fortune. Anyone. Just ask Muhammad Shahid Nazir, a Pakistani-born fishmonger who became an overnight sensation while hawking frozen snapper and mackerel for one British pound ($1.61) at a London market.

Anyone can take the road to fame and fortune. Anyone.

Just ask Muhammad Shahid Nazir, a Pakistani-born fishmonger who became an overnight sensation while hawking frozen snapper and mackerel for one British pound ($1.61) at a London market.

Following in the well-trodden footsteps of that adorable Canadian teen Justin Bieber, Nazir, 31, found a massive audience after a video showing him singing a catchy tune was posted on YouTube.

Unlike Justin, Nazir performed not a love song, but a tune about selling fish.

"Come on ladies, come on ladies, one pound fish! Have a, have a look, one pound fish!" he sings as he points to the fishies behind him. "Very, very good, one pound fish! Very, very cheap, one pound fish!" Within a couple of weeks, the vid went viral, amassing 7 mil views.

" 'One Pound Fish' changed my whole life," Nazir tells the Associated Press.

Nazir got a hero's welcome upon his return to Pakistan and has been inundated with requests to perform and star in various ads. He says:

"I am so happy now."

Adam Lambert: 'Les Miz' stinks!

The hit film version of

Les Misérables

American Idol

sensation

Adam Lambert

is one of the haters.

"Visually impressive w great Emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers," Lambert, 30, tweets. "It's an opera. Hollywoods movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority." Wasn't he impressed that the actors did their own singing live? "I do think it was cool they were singing live - but with that cast, they should have studio-recorded and sweetened the vocals," he says.
