Mel Gibson: Still angry

Mel Gibson is at it again. This time, however, the beneficiary of his legendary temper is not a Santa Monica policeman, his babymama or screenwriter Joe Eszterhas.

This time, the woman who felt Mel's wrath is Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson, his 78-year-old stepmother.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ.com, Mel threatened Teddy Joye, spit in her face and sabotaged her marriage. Teddy Joye married Mel's Holocaust-denying father, Hutton Gibson, in 2001.

She recently filed for a restraining order against Mel.

Teddy Joye claims Mel and his sister Maura are on the rampage against her because she doesn't approve of "experimental Ozone treatments" the siblings want 93-year-old Hutton to get for an undisclosed illness — ozone injections have relieved pain in some cases involving herniated discs. (If we can inject ozone, can we inject it into the depleted ozone layer? Just asking.)

Teddy Joye also claims that Mel and Maura are behind Hutton's filing for divorce because Hutton, a devout Catholic, doesn't believe in divorce.

Hey, Mel's a devout Catholic and he doesn't believe in turning the other cheek.

In fact, Teddy Joye says Mel is trying to kick her out of her home, which is owned by .?.?. one of his charities.

The widow and girlfriend of Thomas Kinkade, the self-described "Painter of Light," are facing off in court to see if a judge will shed some light over who will be executor of the late artist's $66.3 million estate.

In one corner we have Amy Pinto-Walsh, who was living with Kinkade and found his body when he accidentally overdosed April 6 on alcohol and Valium. She has submitted handwritten Kinkade notes she says bequeath her his mansion in Monte Sereno, Calif., and $10 million to establish a museum of his paintings there.

In the other corner we have Kinkade's wife of 30 years, Nanette Kinkade, who disputes the claims by Pinto-Walsh and seeks full control of the estate. The couple had been legally separated for more than two years when Kinkade died.

Pinto-Walsh's lawyers filed court papers June 11 stating that she and Kinkade had planned to marry in Fiji as soon as his divorce went through.

Nanette Kinkade has painted Pinto-Walsh in court papers as a gold-digger who is trying to cheat the artist's rightful heirs — Kinkade had four daughters. After Kinkade's death, Nanette obtained a restraining order prohibiting Pinto-Walsh from talking publicly about the artist. That confidentiality agreement is also the subject of court proceedings.

HBO says it's bringing back "The Newsroom" and "True Blood" for another season each.

HBO announced Monday that "True Blood," the network's hit vampire drama, will be coming back for a sixth season next year. "The Newsroom," created and written by Oscar-winner Aaron Sorkin, won a green light for a second season after just two episodes have aired. Though getting mixed reviews from critics, the show attracted a healthy — by HBO standards — audience for its premiere.

Unfortunately, the second episode was worse.

Richard Costello, a Massachusetts restaurateur, has won a Facebook-based competition seeking the man who most looks like Ernest Hemingway.

Costello bested 86 other entrants in the Virtual "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest staged on the Florida Keys tourism council's Facebook page.

He won a trip to Key West to compete in a preliminary round of a live "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest. The competition is to be staged at Sloppy Joe's Bar during the island's July 17-22 Hemingway Days festival.

Last week, Facebook users voted for their top choices.

Of course most Facebook users think Ernest Hemingway starred in the "Ernest" movies.

In other Facebook-related news, a Walmart promotion will send Pitbull (a/k/a Armando Christian Perez), to the Walmart that gets the most "likes" on its Facebook page.

Pitbull is promoting Sheets' Energy Strips and not lead-painted Chinese toys — although he might push those too for the right price.

Anyway, Rolling Stone reports that David Thorpe, a writer for the Boston Phoenix newspaper, thought it'd be funny to send Pitbull to the most remote Walmart possible, and is encouraging people to "like" the Walmart in Kodiak, Alaska.

As of Monday, the Kodiak Walmart had more than 35,000 "likes," more than five times the town's population — nearly 10 times the Kodiak's population of bears.

"Wherever the fans want to have a party, I will be there," Pitbull said in an emailed statement sent from Austria, where he's on tour.

Tough break, Pitbull. You just missed the Crab Festival.
