Nugent on Obama: Let me explain

Ted Nugent had to meet with the Secret Service on Thursday as part of its investigation into the rocker after he made heated comments at last weekend's National Rifle Association confab in St. Louis. Nugent, 63, urged the assembled to help oust President Obama and his "vile, evil, America-hating administration" in November. "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November," he added, "I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year." Democratic leaders have asked GOP candidate Mitt Romney to condemn Nugent's outburst.

The rocker told Glenn Beck Wednesday that he would cooperate with the Secret Service, adding that he spoke of voting Obama out, not doing violence to him.

Kardashian for prima legate!

There will arise a woman named KK, Nostradamus wrote, who will yield multitudes of really tanned, blonde, beautiful people.

And so it shall come to pass: Kim Kardashian revealed on her sister's TV show, Khloe & Lamar, that she may run for mayor of Glendale, Calif. Not preposterous at all, says TMZ, which reports that former Glendale mayor and current councilman Ara Najarian digs the idea while local realtor Artin Sarkissian has offered to find Kim a home in Glendale.

Mariah Carey on babies, weight

Mariah Carey has dropped 70 pounds since giving birth to twins, Roc and Roe, last year on April 30. The pregnancy itself also was meaningful. "Pregnancy was probably the best and the hardest thing I'll ever go through," Nick Cannon's softer half tells Shape mag. "I know for a lot of women, it can be wonderful and relatively easy. But for me, it was like 'OK, honey, do you have to do everything the hard way'?"

Guitars recovered in Petty theft

Police have made an arrest and recovered five guitars that were stolen from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at a rehearsal studio, Culver City, Calif., police Lt. Ron Iizuka has announced. The instruments were reported stolen last week from the Culver Studios. The band had offered a "no questions asked" reward of $7,500 for information leading to their return.

Money talks, baby. Does it ever

Sean "Diddy" Combs has a net worth of $550 mil, says Forbes, making him hip-hop's wealthiest artist. Jay-Z is in second place with only $460 mil, while Dr. Dre is third with a meager $270 mil.

And TMZ says Britney Spears has finally agreed to join X Factor after Simon Cowell upped her salary for next year to $15 mil. Former judge Paula Abdul made $2.5 mil.

Bieber impostor charged

Authorities in Newark, N.J., have accused a Justin Bieber impersonator in Canada of threatening and sexually abusing a 12-year-old New Jersey girl on a video chat site. Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray says 34-year-old Lee Moir of Toronto, Ontario, posed as the pop star on Facebook. Authorities allege he threatened to harm the girl's family to force her to perform sex acts online. It's unclear if Moir used photos of Bieber on his Facebook page, but authorities say the girl realized it wasn't the singer during the video chat.

Moir was arrested after an undercover Canadian officer posed as a 14-year-old girl online. Authorities say Moir engaged the officer in sexual conversations and requested a meeting and was arrested. He's charged in Canada with luring, manufacturing child pornography and extortion.

Lionel Richie wows the charts

Lionel Richie's country-tinged Tuskegee climbed to No. 1 on Billboard's album chart in its third week, selling 129,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. Adele sold 92,000 more copies of 21 to take the second spot, while Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is third with 81,000.

Doubling down on Springsteen

Without waiting to see if the first show will sell out, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band have added a second show at Citizens Bank Park. In addition to the Sept. 2 show scheduled to take place while the Phillies are away in Atlanta, the band will also play on Labor Day, Sept. 3.
