Inqlings: Putting away her toe shoes

, one of the Pennsylvania Ballet's homegrown principal dancers, is bowing out, retiring after 21 years on stage.

Chamberlain, 39, a native of Media who joined the ballet as an apprentice right out of Friends Select, says she's been contem-

plating the move for several years: "I didn't want to be 40 and dancing."

But she won't be totally out of the dance picture.

One reason is that her husband of nearly six years, Jonathan Stiles, is still a principal with the ballet. Another is that she is teaching dance. She also has been designing costumes and developing a line of dancewear and leotards.

Back in the mid-1990s, she bought a serger, a specialized sewing machine, and started doing custom work. The first leotard she made is still in use, Chamberlain said.

Her Pennsylvania Ballet finale will be a production of the George Balanchine tribute to George Gershwin, Who Cares?, on April 17 at the Merriam Theater.

Also at WRNB, DC Todd now hosts the slow-jam show Whispers in the Dark from 7 p.m. to midnight Sundays through Thursdays, as Tiffany Bacon moves into the 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday slot.

has been booked to headline Oct. 22's Gala 2011, the fund-raiser for the school's Zoellner Arts Center.

CBS3 anchor Pat Ciarrocchi will receive Cabrini College's Ivy Young Willis Award on March 15. The award recognizes women for contributions in public affairs. She'll speak at 3:30 p.m. that day in the Grace Hall Atrium of the Cabrini campus in Radnor.
