The networks unveiled five new series Monday night, but the big winner was ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," whose two-hour season premiere averaged more than 21 million viewers, up by some 2.5 million from a year ago.

Biggest loser of the new entries: Fox's "Lone Star," which averaged slightly more than 4 million viewers, following the season opener of "House," which drew some 10.5 million, down from the 15.8 million it attracted in the same hour a year ago.

Biggest winner: CBS' "Hawaii Five-0," which won its time slot, averaging 13.826 million viewers.

That's just about the same number the eighth-season premiere of "CSI: Miami" - which is moving to Sundays - drew a year ago, but with a smaller rating among advertiser-targeted 18- to 49-year-olds.

It also dropped nearly 800,000 viewers in the second half-hour, according to the preliminary Nielsens.

On NBC, "Chase" placed third at 10 p.m., with 7.94 million and also lost some viewers in the second half, along with ABC's "Castle," which averaged 12 million viewers in the first half-hour after "Dancing With the Stars," but lost 1.7 million in the second.

At 9, NBC's "The Event" attracted 11.2 million viewers, rising in the second half, while at 9:30, CBS' "Mike & Molly" averaged 12.24 million, tying for second with "The Event" in 18-49.

Meanwhile, on the cable front, HBO yesterday announced it had ordered a second season of "Boardwalk Empire," whose Sunday premiere drew 4.8 million viewers at 9 p.m. - the most of any HBO premiere in more than six years - and with two additional showings, attracted a total of 7.1 million viewers for the night. *
