The Palin circus is open for business!

The Anchorage Daily News reported yesterday that Levi Johnston, 19, has won an early victory in his custody battle with ex-gf Bristol Palin over their son Tripp, who turned 1 on Sunday. Levi, all pumped up from his triumphal Playgirl pictorial, had filed to make the proceedings and all court documents public.

Alaska Superior Court Judge Kari Kristiansen sided with Levi and against Bristol, who wanted to keep the case confidential. One imagines she also wants to protect her mum, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who has been embroiled in a few mudslinging contests with Levi.

On Nov. 4, Bristol filed for custody of the child, claiming that "Levi is not yet mature enough to take on significant parental responsibilities." She also seeks court-ordered child support - from an unemployed high school dropout. Nice!

Levi seeks shared custody. In an affidavit, he says he wants the case to be open to "public scrutiny as a check against anyone's need to be overly vindictive, aggressive or malicious." He adds that he's referring not to Bristol but to her mom.

Sarah, he says, "is powerful, politically ambitious, and has a reputation for being extremely vindictive." Bristol told the court "my mother is not involved in this case." She also said Levi wants to use the case to publicize a potential reality show.
