Tattle: Seacrest gets a restraining order against armed stalking suspect

THE PRICE of fame seems to be restraining orders.

"American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest got one against Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr., who was arrested on suspicion of stalking the radio and television host outside his Los Angeles workplace on Friday.

Uzomah, 25, was detained at the E! Entertainment Television headquarters, carrying a knife and trying to see Seacrest. He's already on probation for another Seacrest stalking - he pleaded guilty to three misdemeanors: carrying a switchblade knife, assault and battery, after he attacked one of Seacrest's bodyguards in September.

But Seacrest isn't the only L.A. celeb getting help from the courts to keep the public at bay. Nicole Richie and her children are getting some court-ordered space from a pair of celebrity photographers.

* A judge on Friday granted Richie's request for a temporary restraining order against the paparazzi, one of whom, Eduardo Arrivabene, allegedly caused a car accident involving Richie in Beverly Hills earlier this month.

Arrivabene and Ivon Emilio Melo Miguel continue to chase Richie and her children, a newborn son and infant daughter, in the pursuit of shots. The men scream at Richie "in an attempt to get a reaction" and have left the 28-year-old frightened for her family's safety.

* And then there's Mark McLeod, 53, who told police he was engaged to marry Miley Cyrus. On Friday he pleaded guilty to resisting police outside the set of a Cyrus movie set in Georgia. He was given two years probation, told to undergo a mental health evaluation and was banished from Savannah and surrounding Chatham County. He was ordered to stay away from the 16-year-old "Hannah Montana" star and her family. He wasn't charged with stalking, though. District Attorney Larry Chisolm said prosecutors dropped those charges against the unemployed assistant plumber because they lacked evidence that his "attempt to reach or follow Miley Cyrus was different than the hundreds of other fans."

Gypsy woman

Actor Ethan Hawke on Saturday praised Madonna for her boldness in speaking out against discrimination against Gypsies, words that provoked boos from thousands of fans at her concert in Romania.

Hawke, visiting Romania to help promote his mother's charity supporting education for Gypsy children, placed the pop superstar alongside Bob Marley and John Lennon as part of a tradition of artists speaking out against racism.

"She transcended being a pop star," he told reporters. "She drew international attention and shone the spotlight on a level of racism and the need for greater education," Hawke said.

At an August concert in Bucharest on her "Sticky & Sweet" tour, Madonna called for an end to widespread discrimination against Eastern Europe's Gypsies, also known as Roma. Thousands of fans responded by booing her.

"I don't have an agenda, Madonna doesn't have an agenda. We aren't politicians," Hawke said.

Hawke, 38, was to speak later Saturday at the Ovidiu Rom charity Halloween ball. He and his mother, Leslie Hawke, the charity's president, were already dressed in costume: the actor in top hat and tails and his mother in a Japanese-style kimono, black wig and geisha-like makeup.

A pair of Madonna's Christian Dior shoes with autographed skyscraper gold heels are to be raffled at the ball, which is to be held in the giant palace of the late dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. Among the other prizes is a gold chain provided by actress Vanessa Redgrave.

Another little Farrell

There's another chip off the old Colin Farrell block.

A spokeswoman for the 33-year-old actor said Friday that Farrell and actress Alicja Bachleda welcomed son Henry Tadeusz Farrell on Oct. 7. The couple met while filming "Ondine." Farrell has a 6-year-old son, James Padraig Farrell, with model Kim Bordenave.
