Gary Thompson: Trick-or-treaters at the door - zombies on the DVD

THE BIG-name titles this week are "Ice Age 3" and the Woody Allen/Larry David collaboration, "Whatever Works."

But, hey, it's Halloween, and though the idea of Woody Allen and Larry David making a movie about an old guy who romances Evan Rachel Wood is pretty scary, it's appropriate to look for a real horror movie.

Like "Night of the Creeps," a Blu-ray and collector's edition DVD release of the 1986 B-movie cult classic, widely considered to be the prototype zombie comedy (though not to be confused with "Night of the Comet" made a few years earlier and also widely considered to be the prototype zombie comedy).

"Creeps" starred Jason Lively and Steve Marshall as frat pledges who steal a corpse and create a zombie fiasco, then turn to a retired cop (Tom Atkins) when things get out of control.

The DVD ($19) is packed with extras - behind the scenes, making of, cast interviews, and commentary from director Fred Dekker, who restores his original ending to movie.
