TV reality couple settle in

'Bachelorette' & fiancé reveal their plans

CHICAGO - Those who follow "The Bachelorette" know full well that Jillian Harris accepted Ed Swiderski's proposal during Monday's finale.

And that the engagement came after a series of dramatic twists and turns, including when Swiderski left the show earlier in the season to try to keep his job as a technology consultant, only to return two episodes later after realizing he'd made the wrong decision.

Harris, who is Canadian, will move to Chicago in September to live with Swiderski. They plan to get married in Canada in a year to 18 months.

What else do we want to know about the happy couple? We talked with them by phone Wednesday in New York.

Q: Only one couple from the "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" shows has gotten married. What will set you apart from the couples who have failed?

Harris: There's one couple that's happily married and has kids [but many others who are still dating]. In my opinion, we're all different people. And I don't know why some of those other ones didn't work - probably the same reasons why regular couples don't work out in real life. Me and Ed are super natural together.

Swiderski: I agree, totally.

We're very comfortable around each other, and I've never felt this confident about [a relationship]. Call it very, very lucky, but I feel very confident in us.

Q: When Jillian was on "The Bachelor," before "The Bachelorette," she liked to ask guys what they put on their hot dog, saying it says a lot about them. What do you put on your hot dog, Ed?

Swiderski: I'm definitely a mustard guy.

Q: Jillian, what does that say about Ed?

Harris: I'm still working on my theory, but a mustard guy is a good guy for me.

The thing about mustard is, [he's] usually a guy you want to marry. I got my mustard and I'm gonna stick with him . . . [Mustard guys] have a good balance. They're the fun socialite and the safe mama's boy, I guess.

Swiderski: I'm not a mama's boy, but I think that's a good snapshot of me. I still like to have fun and work hard and play hard.

Q: Ed, according to bloggers, people say you left the show to come back to Chicago to end a relationship with a girlfriend, not to save your job. Is that true?

Swiderski: It's absolutely false. If you ask my boss, you'd definitely get the same response. My career was the No. 1 priority for me, and it had absolutely nothing to do with a girlfriend or anything of that nature.

Q: How will you balance work and your relationship now that you're together?

Swiderski: I think it'll be a challenge, I'm not gonna lie. It's not gonna be perfect. I think it'll take some work, but I've already kind of begun that whole process of trying to reprioritize work and personal life.

Q: On "Good Morning America," you said you went jogging in Central Park. Will we see you two jogging along [Lake Michigan]?

Swiderski: Oh, yeah, for sure. We'll be jogging down Michigan Avenue and we'll be up in Lincoln Park.

Harris: You know one of those scooters? . . . I'm gonna get one of those, and I'm gonna scoot alongside of him. I feel like I haven't worked out for the last six months being on the show.

I think it's time to be back on track.

Q: Ed, after the show, did you keep your job at Microsoft?

Harris: I did. Yep, I'm still there.
