How can one possibly continue to slog on through one's barren existence after this? The two men most responsible for making the new Doctor Who series, which was resurrected in 2005 after a 16-year absence to become a critically lauded hit, are both leaving the show.

How can one possibly continue to slog on through one's barren existence after this?

The two men most responsible for making the new

Doctor Who

series, which was resurrected in 2005 after a 16-year absence to become a critically lauded hit, are both leaving the show.

London's Daily Mail says actor

David Tennant

and writer/producer

Russell T. Davies

will be gone after the fourth season ends next year.

"I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life-changing time working on

Doctor Who

. I have loved every day of it," said Tennant, whose turn as Hamlet in the Royal Shakespeare Company's current production in Stratford has received rave reviews.

Tennant took over the Tardis when

Christopher Eccleston

quit the show after one season. Bookmakers say the favorite to become the 11th Doctor is

Robert Carlisle

(Trainspotting

,

28 Weeks Later

).

Take 2 doctors & call me in the morning

Gwyneth Paltrow

has revealed the secret to her amazing health: She keeps a doctor in every city she's ever visited. (Well, almost.)

"Recently I have found three doctors who have helped me tremendously," she writes on the goop.com newsletter. The docs are in London, New York and L.A. Best of all, they have trained her to treat the rest of us!

"Sleep eight hours for two weeks, then start eliminating 'white' foods. After two weeks of sleeping and eating better, you'll have the energy to exercise," Paltrow counsels readers.

Tiny bits & quick hits

Aerosmith

Joe Perry

. "We pretty much stay out of it," he tells the Boston Herald. "But seeing so many people come out for [

, I just felt like 'What the [heck], I might as well raise my hand for this side.' "

Larry B.: I want another baby

Larry Birkhead

, who is single-handedly raising 2-year-old

Dannielynn

, the baby he made with

Anna Nicole Smith

, wants her to have a play pal. "I want to have another child," Larry tells Life & Style. "It would be tough for me to do right now, but in a couple of years, definitely." Likely vessels for the prospective child? Larry says he's too busy raising his daughter to meet women or go on dates.

Asner: Still got it at 78

"I feel very strongly I have not lost it,"

Ed Asner

tells the Hollywood Reporter. "I'm a better actor now than I've ever been, though I can't leap tall buildings." The

Lou Grant

star, who stars in the new Hallmark Channel flick,

Generation Gap

, will turn 79 next month.

Young won't cross picket line

Neil Young

says he postponed a concert at the Forum in L.A. scheduled for yesterday out of respect to striking members of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), who are picketing the venue. Reuters reports that Young and his wife,

Pegi

, are honorary lifetime members of the union, which is in a contract dispute with the venue's owner, Faithful Central Bible Church.

"I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE," he said in a statement. The show will be rescheduled.

Sometimes a 'Porno' isn't a porno

Kevin Smith

is upset, confused, shocked.

He's "flabbergasted," to quote Variety.

An American cinema icon, to be sure, Smith is upset that ads for his new film,

Zack and Miri Make a Porno

, are being banned in markets across the country because of public outcry over the last word in the film's title.

"I can't believe this is happening in the 21st century," Smith says. "When was the last time you saw a porno with the word

porno

in the title?" (Mr. Smith means that the idea that

Porno

is

a porno is totally misplaced.)

Gawker.com worries that the film's box office prospects may be ruined by such a setback.

Endometriosis strikes again?!

Endometriosis is not transmittable, right?

You wouldn't know it from the cast of

Dancing With the Stars

. Days after

Julianne Hough

revealed she has endometriosis, news comes that

Lacey Schwimmer

also suffers from it.

"A few days ago, I started feeling very shaky, very weak, and I had awful cramps going on," says Lacey, who is

Lance Bass

' partner on the show. Lacey tells TV celeb show

The Insider

, "I went to go get checked out . . . and I actually have the beginning onset of what Julianne has . . . and it hurts very bad." But it was caught early, so Lacey's prognosis is very good!
