Inqlings: The big reach for an anchor

Fox29 is moving to fill its male prime-time anchor slot, and it's going to great lengths to see one candidate face-to-face.

To Colombia.

Brian Andrews

, a longtime TV newsie in the Miami market (and a onetime colleague of

Alycia Lane's

), is being flown up for an interview today, I hear.

The Atlanta-bred Andrews has been in South America full time since December as a producer for Caracol TV, a correspondent for Al Jazeera, and host of an English-language newscast for RCN Network that is expected to launch later this month.

Fox29 released

Dave Huddleston

last week, and various anchors are being paired with

Dawn Stensland

.

Andrews did not reply to my e-mail and the station did not wish to talk about it. The prospect of a Philly job interview for Andrews first appeared Sunday on the South Florida TV blog, though the post indicated that he was interviewing with CBS3.

The

Larry Mendte

affair, meanwhile, has not affected CBS3's ratings. According to numbers provided by Nielsen Media Research, CBS3 drew an 11 share of the 11 p.m. audience during his last week on the air, May 26, meaning that 11 percent of the viewing audience was tuning in. News of the FBI investigation into Mendte broke on May 31.

For the next two weeks (June 2 and 9, Mondays to Fridays), the 11 p.m. newscasts with

Susan Barnett

and

Chris May

drew the same numbers. Ratings (the number of households) held steady. Not that flatness is such a good thing. NBC10, long in third place, has been nipping at CBS3's heels.

Gone Hollywood.

As mayor,

Michael Nutter

is expected to work behind the scenes. How about as a TV director, too? Earlier this month, he was invited behind the camera as the FX comedy

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

shot a scene in which Charlie (

Charlie Day

) filches coins from Swann Fountain on Logan Circle. Director

Fred Savage

instructed Nutter on key phrases.

Center City actress

Sylvia Kauders

is the kind of gal who does kiss and tell. Last week, after they'd shot a scene in a South Philly deli for

Transformers 2

,

Shia LaBeouf

gave her a kiss - "because I am talented and rich," says Kauders, who ranks among Philly's more seasoned actors.

Transformers 2

cameras and crew have been all over (Fairmount Park, University of Pennsylvania) and today are due inside Eastern State Penitentiary, while Rittenhouse Square will double as Paris later this week. Saturday is the scheduled Philly wrap; next stop: Princeton.

Connie Stevens

will visit the Philadelphia Stock Exchange on Thursday to ring the opening bell as she marks the 75th anniversary of the Screen Actors Guild. SAG will lead a free symposium for film buffs, "The Anatomy of a Motion Picture," from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Free Library of Philadelphia, 1901 Vine St.

Two suburban preschoolers will appear on episodes of PBS Sprout TV's

PICME

(5:15 p.m.):

Jake Ulmer

of Downingtown (tomorrow) and

Jacob Busch

of Pottstown (Friday). Their faces are placed on animated bodies to be part of the story.

Par for the course.

Fox29 spitfire

Jennaphr Frederick

was golfing at Blue Bell Country Club last week when makeup artist

Carie Brescia

stopped her to show products from her new makeup line. The foundation stick ($26, available at Katye K in Haverford) is named Jennaphr. Which explains Frederick's gleeful screaming, which didn't sit well with the all-male foursome in front of them.
