I'm a huge fan of "GSM"-style wines, Australia's ripe reply to the signature blend of grenache, syrah, and mourvedre that makes France's Chateauneuf-du-Pape such an intriguingly complex red.

This well-balanced Heinrich from Rolf Binder is a great version of the genre, with a blast of full-frontal dark fruit that is a bit more grapey than the earthier, Rhone original. Two of the grapes are also labeled with their Aussie-alternate names - "S" for shiraz, and "M" for mataro. But this trio still melds for a dusky complexity that straight-up shiraz rarely achieves, with a lush core of deep blueberry and vanilla that gives way to a touch of tar and a finishing tingle of cracked black pepper. It's also discounted by $5 off list price in Pennsylvania.
