Inqlings | Kidd Chris will return, enriched

By the time Kidd Chris and his agent are finished with WYSP (94.1), he probably will be Kidd Chri$. Chris - lone remaining air personality from WYSP's former talk format - was pulled from his afternoon slot yesterday for his own preservation. Station general manager David Yadgaroff said too many callers wanted to discuss the upheaval at WYSP, including Tuesday's dumping of the Opie & Anthony morning show. It was having an impact on Chris' show, Yadgaroff said, adding that he would return. He would not say where or when.

I hear that timing hinges on contract negotiations, as Chris and agent Robert Eatman are seeking a sizable raise - into the mid six figures - and additional resources befitting a morning show. Although Chris could return Monday, WYSP is looking toward the week after.

Also yesterday, Opie (Gregg Hughes) said on the O&A show on XM Satellite Radio that he'd work free on any Philadelphia station: "I want to take down 'YSP and I want to take out Preston & Steve" on WMMR (93.3). No takers yet.

'Good Day' newcomer

Expect a sneak peek at new Fox29 anchor

John Anderson

on tomorrow's

Good Day Philadelphia

, as he'll start Monday on the desk beside

Sheinelle Jones

in the mornings. Anderson replaces short-timer

Clayton Morris

, who classily gave his farewell Friday

.

Anderson, 42, a Minnesotan with a TV-newsie wife (Kristin Anderson) and 3-year-old twins, has worked all over the Midwest. At his last stop, morning anchor at Cleveland's Channel 3, he caught the eye of Mike Renda, who ran Channel 8 until he landed at Fox29 as general manager.

People in brief

Joan Jones

, who did the news on

Michael Smerconish's

morning show on WPHT (1210) until she was reassigned recently to less-lucrative middays, has resigned. She says she'll continue to sell real estate in South Jersey and use her pipes to do voice-overs.

Helicopter photojournalist Bob Kravitz, grounded 10 years ago after being injured in the crash of a chopper leased to 6ABC, is back in the air. He's joined Helicopters Inc., which shoots news for NBC10.

Rebecca Campbell, at 6ABC for a decade and its president for four years, has left to head New York's ABC flagship, WABC. Deep local ties, as she also is on the boards of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and the Philadelphia Zoo, and her husband, John, is director of photography for Fox29. The promotion came on quickly; the couple bought a $1.2 million house in Montgomery County early last year. I hear that Bernie Prazenica, a Temple grad and former 6ABC sales guy who runs ABC's station in Raleigh/Durham, N.C., is front-runner for Campbell's old job.

Also on the real estate front: Former 76er Steven Hunter, now with the Denver Nuggets, is selling his Gladwyne spread for $2.5 million. Ouch. A loss. He paid $2.725 million for the six-bedroom two years ago.

James McBride not only will blow sax at the Clef Club for Saturday's benefit for the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania, but will also bring along a 10-piece big band. Spike Lee is filming McBride's novel Miracle at St. Anna in Italy right now.

The office of State Sen. Shirley Kitchen (D., Phila.) says Saturday's "baby shower" for new and expectant mothers at Temple Children's Medical Center is booked solid - 700 attendees, who will get info on health care. Kitchen is organizing the event with Raquel "Roxi" McNabb, wife of Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, whose sister, a nurse practitioner, sees many uninsured mothers. The McNabbs, who have a 3-year-old daughter, are not expecting, says a Kitchen aide.
