A happy (vampiric) ending for Bella & Edward?

There’s been a knot in our stomach ever since KStewGate, that shocking scandal that had Kristen  Stewart, 22, forsake Robert Pattinson, 26, for some cheap thrills with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

A question haunts us: Will KStew and RoPat have a real future together?

There is one consolation: Their Twilight characters, it seems, will have a beautiful life together.

"If you see the movie, it's a happy ending,” RoPat tells Parade.com about Bella and Edward’s relationship at the end of the final Twilight picture, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2, which opens Nov. 16.

“They kind of work everything out, and I guess that’s a good thing.”

Wait, what does he mean he guesses it’s a good thing?

Ain’t it a good thing? Is Robert trying to say something about his broken relationship with Kristen? Maybe the ending isn’t all that great?

KStew tells Parade – in a separate interview – the movie has a surprise ending, an unforeseen conclusion.

"There’s an enormous, shocking, crazy, surprise happening at the end of the movie that is not congruent with the book,” KStew says.

“[Director] Bill Condon really twists the knife for anyone who might not want it to be over. I lost it.”

Oh my.

Meanwhile, KStew tells FoxNews.com that she feels liberated now that the whole Twilight saga is over.

“It is just nuts to have that weight lifted and to be able to look back and be so proud of everyone,” she says.

“You wonder while in the midst of it, how you are going to feel after. I feel incredibly light, I guess free.”

Free how? Free of her soulmate? Free to do dumb naughty things with middle-aged married filmmakers?

Finally this week the duo asked direct questions about their relationship. Well, answer is probably not the right word.

Kirsten Stewart speaks in riddles

Today show’s Savannah Guthrie on Wednesday asked Kristen the big question. “Kristen, you have so many fans and they will be mad at us if we don’t ask you,” said Guthrie. “Are you back together with Robert Pattinson?”

KStew was less that forthcoming.

“Funny you mention that,” she said. “I'm going to just let people watch whatever little movie they think our lives are.”

She added, “ Keep 'em guessing, I always say.”

Robert Pattinson's infuriating rap

Undaunted, Guthrie posed the same question to RoPat this morning. She asked the British beauty if he had heard KStew’s statement, then refreshed his memory.

“Keep 'em guessing?” RPat repeated.

“I want to ask, because we get asked it all the time, everyone always asks, like for four years. Who is actually asking? Is it in your contract?” he asked Guthrie.

“Yes, it's in the fine print,” she said laughing.

Guthrie pressed on, asking RPat if he’s “paid a high price” for fame, given the publicity surrounding his personal life.

"Doesn't have to be," RPat said. “It only becomes personal if you answer it. I could sit here and talk nonsense about paper hats and stuff, getting old, needing a nap.”

Taylor Lautner’s two cents

The couple’s co-star Taylor Lautner is more direct about KStewGate.

“To be honest, I've never been involved in any of those situations,” he tells Us Magazine about infidelity, “so I don't know [if trust can be regained].”

He’s more positive when asked if the couple can reignite their spark: “Absolutely,” he declares.

But he’s not sure it’ll all work out.

“It depends on how long you were with that person. If it was a long, serious relationship, I think it's quite easy to rekindle,” he says.

“I guess it depends on what damage has been done. There's no ex out there who I'm not friends with today, and I'm extremely thankful for that.”
