Can Lindsay Lohan pull off a convincing Elizabeth Taylor?

Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor?

We cringed when we first heard that cable channel Lifetime had hired LiLo to play Liz in the upcoming biopic, Liz & Dick.

We still cringe.

Could LiLo ever match Liz’ emotional explosion opposite Montgomery Clift in the psychiatric hospital scene from Suddenly Las Summer?

Could LiLo –  who suffers from the hot-young-American-girl-syndrome: Hyper-aware of her body, willing to use it as a tool for distanced, visual seduction, but totally uncomfortable inhabiting herself – ever replicate Liz’ lewd, yet moving sexual desperation opposite a glacial Marlon Brando in Reflections in a Golden Eye?

In a word, no.

We cringed when we got an email today from Lifetime containing a sneak peak photos from the biopic shoot: One of LiLo made up as Liz, a second of Grant Bowler, as Richard Burton, Liz’ on-off-on-again-off-again-on&on-again-off&off-again real-life lover, wife, hater, friend, enemy.

You cringed. Yet you still ran the piece. Quit being a shill for publicists.

Hey, people want to see it. Just like they want to see pictures of car accidents. Doesn't mean you can't cringe.
