Zooey Deschanel & Ben Gibbard separate

Kim ‘n’ Kris aren’t the only couple to implode this week.

Zooey Deschanel, 31, and indie rocker husband, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, 35, have separated after two years of marriage, says Us Weekly. (That’s more than 72 days.)

"It was mutual and amicable," Unnamed Source tells the mag. "There was no third party involved."

Gibbard, who also sings with The Postal Service, told New York magazine in September he wooed Zooey with much ardor.

“I'd seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful," he said.

He had Melt-y-Wobbly Knees Complex upon meeting her. “I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me,” he told the mag.

Zooey, thesp sister to thesp Emily Deschanel, 35, told the mag that she was surprised marriage required effort. “You can't expect to make no effort,” she said. “

You still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding. It sort of just solidifies your commitment."

That interview was like a couple months ago! So what went wrong?

He moved to Philadelphia in the mid-‘80s to seek enlightenment, and instead received a B.A. in literature at Penn. While pursuing doctoral studies in modern religious thought and philosophy, he worked at the Inquirer as a news clerk, researcher, editor, and entertainment writer.

He hopes SideShow will help citizens better understand the vicissitudes of the Consumerist-Military-Industrial-Infotainment Complex, or, in other words, why Britney Spears has a tendency to shave her head, Brangelina to adopt children, and Lindsay Lohan to crave imprisonment.
