Burlington County man, guilty of murder, sentenced to life in prison

Darius Bridges will not be eligible for parole for almost 68 years.

A 28-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for a 2016 fatal shooting in Burlington City, Burlington County Prosectuor Scott A. Coffina said.

Darius Bridges, who was convicted of murder in the shooting of Howard G. Young Jr., 22, of Burlington Township in November 2016, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Charles A. Delehey.

Bridges, of Beverly City, will serve almost 69 years before he's eligible for parole. He had contact with law enforcement officials 42 times in his life, including 14 times as a juvenile.

"We cannot allow the streets of Burlington County to become hunting grounds where personal scores are settled with flying bullets," Coffina said in a release. "This sentence reflects the seriousness with which such criminal activity should be met."
