A student at Cherry Hill High School East is facing charges for an alleged threat about the school.

Cherry Hill police said investigators learned of the threat on Sunday, which was made in a text message and circulated on social media.

The juvenile, whose name was not released, was charged with one count of making a false public alarm, police said.

Authorities didn't provide further details about the threat.

School will be in session Monday, though there will be an increased police presence at the building, officials said.

Superintendent Joseph Meloche said in a letter to parents that police have checked the school and would monitor the area.

"I urge everyone to be very cautious and to be thoughtful prior to posting anything on social media," the superintendent's letter said. "The ramifications of our words, written and spoken, are long reaching."
