Crowd-funding to aid Chesco teachers

EXTON A Chester County mall is participating in a crowd-funding campaign to help local teachers and schools raise funds and gather supplies.

Exton Square Mall has joined the Kickstart Your Class campaign run by its owner, PREIT Malls, the company announced last week.

The project aims to spread word about local teachers' proposals on DonorsChoose.org, a crowd-funding site for public school teachers, and attract donors by sharing on social media. Projects by teachers at schools in a number of zip codes surrounding the mall are eligible, including the Coatesville, Downingtown and Pottstown areas.

The Kickstart Your Class website allows users to search for DonorsChoose.org projects by location. Donors can give money through the mall-sponsored site or on DonorsChoose.org.

PREIT Malls also provides funding to select projects, prioritizing those that are widely shared on social media.

Exton Square Mall will host a back-to-school pep rally on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
