Widener combines two schools

The School of Hospitality Management and the School of Education, Innovation, and Continuing Studies will now be known as the School of Education, Hospitality, and Continuing Studies.

CHESTER Two schools at Widener University have merged, the college announced.

The School of Hospitality Management and the School of Education, Innovation, and Continuing Studies will now be known as the School of Education, Hospitality, and Continuing Studies.

The new school will continue to house all the programs from the previous schools, including the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute on Widener's Exton Campus.

Shawn Fitzgerald was named dean of the combined school, and John Flynn is to be the associate dean. Fitzgerald was director of the School of Foundations, Leadership, and Administration at Kent State University.

In addition, Joy Dickerson was named assistant dean for the Center for Hospitality Management, and Marcia Bolton was named assistant dean for Education, Licensure, Assessment and Accreditation, and of the Center for Education.
