Commencement speakers named at Villanova, Widener

Villanova and Widener Universities have announced their commencement speakers. Madeline Bell, president and chief operating officer of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, is to address Villanova graduates at 4 p.m. May 15 in the school stadium. In case of bad weather, the ceremony will be in the Pavilion.

Madeline Bell, president and chief operating officer of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, is to address Villanova graduates at 4 p.m. May 15 in the school stadium. In case of bad weather, the ceremony will be in the Pavilion.

Bell, who received a bachelor of science degree in nursing in 1983 from Villanova, will also receive the degree of doctor of humane letters at the ceremony.

At Widener, two speakers will address graduating students.

John Lippincott, former president of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, will speak at the graduate-student commencement at 9 a.m. May 15.

Martin E.P Seligman, director of the University of Pennsylvania Positive Psychology Center, will deliver the commencement addresses for undergraduates on May 16.

Both speakers will receive honorary doctor of public service degrees. The ceremonies will take place in Bown Garden behind Old Main on the school's main campus in Chester. - Mari A. Schaefer
