Phila. school police officer dies on the job
A well-liked Philadelphia School District police officer died after falling ill at Washington High School on Monday, officials said. Sgt. Daryl Giles, 50, suffered a medical emergency at the school. He was found by another staffer in a school bathroom and taken to Holy Redeemer Hospital, where he died, said Fernando Gallard, a district spokesman. Giles was a 19-year veteran of the school police force.
