Villanova University said it received a $5 million commitment from retired American Eagle Outfitters Inc. CEO James V. O'Donnell and O'Donnell's wife, Charlotte, to establish the Charlotte and James V. O'Donnell '63 Center for Professional Development in the Villanova School of Business.

O'Donnell, who owns JOD Wayne Advisors L.L.C., is a 1963 Villanova graduate of the business school.

The gift is part of the university's $600-million capital campaign.

O'Donnell said in a statement that the center, which will help students develop leadership skills and find internships and co-ops, is meant "to facilitate students' successful transition from back pack to brief case." - Reid Kanaley
