Two schools spent Thursday morning in lockdown as a SWAT team descended on the city's Feltonville section in response to a fabricated story by four adolescent students who said they were victims of a gun incident, authorities said.

The children, ages 10 through 13, students at the Feltonville School of Arts and Sciences, falsely accused a woman of pointing a "long gun" at them as they were walking to school, according to police. Authorities took the report seriously, letting no one in or out of the middle school or Barton Elementary, a kindergarten-through-second grade school on the same campus.

The students were not named. Fernando Gallard, school district spokesman, said the district would investigate their actions.

"They could face disciplinary action for their behavior," he said.

Caught in the middle of the fictional tale was Patricia Claros, a mother of two who lives on the 4600 block of Ella Street near the middle school.

    Police robot

The accusers reported the incident to the school. When police arrived about 9 a.m., the children pointed to Claros' house, saying a woman had peered out and pointed a long gun at them, police said.

Claros, a practicing Jehovah's Witness, was out preaching at the time, according to her pastor, Hector Delgado.

Police used a robot to determine no one was in the house and declared an all-clear just before noon. They later searched the house but left empty-handed. They recovered no firearms and made no arrests.

The school lockdown ended about noon. Police questioned Claros but didn't file any charges.

Claros' husband, Dennis, spoke to the media in Spanish at 3:30 p.m. and Delgado translated: "We are not angry at anything. The police have to do their job."

In a later news release, police said the homeowners "completely cooperated with authorities" and were cleared of any wrongdoing. The children "fabricated the story," police said.

As news spread, parents arrived at both schools to get their children early.

"I felt confused because I didn't know what happened," said Orquida Cesar, whose 11-year-old son is in the sixth grade at Feltonville.

    'Nervous'

Mario Mercado picked up his sixth-grade daughter about 1:45. "It's kind of difficult," he said. "At least nothing happened."

His daughter said she was scared and started crying when the school went into lockdown. She said her mother saw the news on TV and was worried. That's when Mercado went to pick up his daughter.

"I was nervous because I didn't know what was happening," Cesar's son said. "I didn't know if it was Connecticut all over again," he said, referring to the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre last year.

Cesar's son said students in his class watched cartoons during the lockdown.

Students at Feltonville said the school didn't tell them what had triggered the lockdown.

Cartoons during lockdown? What a joke, and why do the children even have to be notified that the school is in lockdown unless there's an definite imminent threat or danger?

Ms. Lou: What ARE you babbling about? BTW you sure don't have a problem with the "bankster", what every that is?, when you need to buy a car or house. Good luck paying cash for that next purchase. Of course your probably a loser living in your mom's house taking SEPTA so not an issue for you.

Is this better than simply triggering the fire alarm or phoning in a bomb threat? Someone should do a cost analysis.

Discipline the parents and maybe the children will get a clue. School's hands are tied.

How embarrassing to be the husband of a woman having a meltdown like that, especially in public. She could have killed someone. I blame the banksters who raped the economy. If it's not a suicide, it's people going berserk like never before. Banksters sit in their ivory towers counting money they stole, while you and I have to deal with daily breakdowns like this one here and hope no one gets hurt. Look at the big picture with these things. Banksters instigated this mess and it's getting worse all over the planet every single day. I think it's accelerating. Trifling.

      LOL

SWAT TEAM in full gear and EOD bots
How much did that cost me?
Please send the parents the bill, thanks tax payers.
Why was the school locked down again?

I commented yesterday that this was going to be the outcome of this affair. I hope the kids who perpetrated this cruel hoax get some strong discipline from the school. They obviously aren't getting any at home. Now, watch out for the copycats. There's bound to be some.

Any news on why they locked down two schools when the house was where the supposed threat was? Did they think they would be followed to school? Like closing 95 because there's an accident on the Boulevard

LIBERAL AGENDA ALRERT!!! - Reporting "fake" gun warnings will scare the public into thinking there is a gun crime epidemic.

Right out of the Joesph Goebbels school of propaganda.

      fester,
this is what happens when schools are on edge after senseless mass murders in schools.

if this nation remains awashed in fire arms then this must be expected. people will be nervous because of your right to feel like a man and have weapons that could kill so many people. shouldn't you be feeling proud now that with guns you finally get some respect?
i thought you would at least pull out a quote from your n.r.a pamphlet about how this our rights in action.

even for you this of yours post was dopey.

Poor Lopes and no gun law passed will ever stop a madman from killing people.

Look at Norway. It all but bans gun ownership and Anders Brevick killed 70 people. Worse yet, due to those gun laws, no one was there to stop him.

The ONLY thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun and you know it.

the only thing that enables a bad guy without a gun......is a gun.
by flooding the country with guns you will increase the odds of bad people getting bigger and more powerful guns and thus enable more massacres.
      you know that fester.
