Woody Allen's latest, set in the glammy 1930s, follows a kid from the Bronx (Jesse Eisenberg) who lands a job in Hollywood working for his uncle (Steve Carell), a big-deal agent to the stars. The agent's assistant (Kristen Stewart) is recruited to show the nephew the ropes. Romantic entanglements ensue.

Captain Fantastic No, not a new Marvel Comics franchise - the opposite, in fact: a human-scale indie about a dad (Viggo Mortensen) who has raised his six kids way off the grid in the Pacific Northwest. Events force the fiercely antiestablishment father and his brood back into the real world, or what passes for it. R

Star Trek Beyond The third installment in the rebooted franchise, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, and Simon Pegg boldly going exactly where you'd expect them to - space, the final frontier. Pegg, who co-stars as Scotty, also co-wrote. Justin Lin directs. PG-13
