Lil Wayne apologizes

Hip-hop hitmaker Lil Wayne on Wednesday issued a mea culpa for remarks he made Tuesday in a chat with Linsey Davis on Nightline.

Wayne was asked what he thought of the work done by Black Lives Matter, which has been hailed by supporters as the most significant black rights movement since the 1960s.

"I don't even know why you put a name on it. It's not a name," he said of the movement. "It's somebody got shot by a policeman for a [bleep] reason."

Wayne added, "I don't feel connected to a . . . thing that ain't got nothin' to do with me."

On Wednesday, Wayne told TMZ, "Apologies to anyone who was offended."

Celebs have sex . . .

The National Enquirer claims it has discovered a "notorious Hollywood sex club" that caters to an exclusive A-list clientele. Folks who enjoyed its fruits? The tabloid said "Angelina Jolie, her ex Brad Pitt, goody-two shoes Gwyneth Paltrow and tart-tongued cable TV talker Bill Maher have indulged in its pleasures." Wonder when the lawsuits will start whizzing by the Enquirer's offices.

The gossip & the fury . . .

French actor-director Mélanie Laurent will helm Galveston, an adaptation of a very American novel by True Detective creator-writer Nic Pizzolatto, says Variety. Ben Foster and Elle Fanning will star. . . . David Bowie's coming to your iPhone. Apple's iOS 10.2 update will have new emojis, including one for singer inspired by Bowie's makeup on the cover of his 1973 LP Aladdin Sane, reports the Los Angeles Times. Both the male and female emoji will have the same icon.

Cumberbatch's charity

Plan to see Doctor Strange? Don't be surprised if the film will be preceded by a PSA for the Hero Acts Children's Charity starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Every time a fan posts a photo of him or herself wearing a superhero costume, Marvel Studios will donate $5 to Save the Children, up to a limit of $1 mil. How generous is that? It's 0.0097 percent of the $10.33 billion grossed so far by the Marvel Cinematic Universe pics. Info: marvelstudiosheroacts.com
