Clinton-Trump debate sets record

Monday night's live broadcast of the presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump was the most-watched debate in American history.

The event drew 81.4 mil viewers across 11 TV channels, according to Nielsen. That doesn't include PBS, which drew 3 mil, or C-SPAN, which does not calculate ratings.

The numbers don't include people who watched the debate at election parties or bars or folks who streamed it on the web. (YouTube alone registered 2.5 mil streaming viewers.)

ABC led the networks with 13.5 mil; Fox News led cable news channels with 11.4 mil.

The previous record was set by a Jimmy Carter-Ronald Reagan debate from 1980 that drew 80.6 mil.

Nielsen reports that people stayed with the debate: There was no drop-off after the first 30 minutes, as with similar live events.

Monday's debate also drew more tweets than any other, Twitter says.

Katy Perry nude for democracy

How important is voting for Katy Perry?

So important that the superstar strips in the name of democracy in a "Funny or Die" vid cosponsored by Rock the Vote that reminds folks to cast ballots in November.

In the vid, Katy wakes up in American-flag pajamas, hair all disheveled, covered with popcorn and other debris. "I've got some great news. This year, you can look like [bleep] when you vote," she says. "I've briefly scanned the Constitution, and nowhere does it say you can't just roll out of bed and come to the polls in whatever state you woke up in."

Once at the polls, Perry declares she sleeps in the buff, and she takes off her jammies.

Rob, Kylie, and human history

In other world-historical news, Rob Kardashian shared his sister Kylie Jenner's cell number on social media to get back at her, reports E! Online. Seems the Kardashian clan held a baby shower in Rob's honor and Kylie made a point of not inviting Rob's pregnant fiancée, Blac Chyna.

Patton Oswalt's humanity

Patton Oswalt is using humor to deal with losing his wife, Michelle McNamara, who died in her sleep six months ago.

He spoke to Conan O'Brien Monday about having to raise daughter Alice, 7, without her mom.

"I'm a widower," he said on Conan's TBS late-night talker.

"If I put it in really basic terms, I'm like every bad '80's sitcom where there's a dad raising a kid by himself . . .. Except my '80's sitcom [stinks]. There's no punch line. There's a lot of insomnia."

He added, "I'm waiting for my daughter to turn to the camera and say, 'No wonder I'm in therapy.' "
