Sideshow: Jennifer Lopez heads to Vegas

J.Lo opens Vegas tenure

J.Lo opens Vegas tenure

Remember that young gal we knew as Jenny From the Block? Well she's all grown up.

And now she's a bona fide Las Vegas attraction.

Singer, film and TV star (check out her turn as a dirty cop in Shades of Blue) Jennifer Lopez, 46, Wednesday night kicked off her residency in All I Have at the Axis at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, an intimate yet huge show with big numbers, big lights, big stage props and stuff.

Surprise guests Ja Rule, Ne-Yo, and Pitbull popped up on stage to help J.Lo perform before an audience that featured some serious boldfacers, including Justin Bieber, Ryan Seacrest, Cheryl Burke, Derek Hough, Wilmer Valderrama, Hoda Kotb, T.I., and, of course, J.Lo's beau, Casper Smart.

Will Smith to boycott

Will Smith on Thursday told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America he has joined the Oscar boycott called by his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, saying the awards are "not reflecting [the] beauty" of Hollywood as a whole.

Several EntIndustry notables, including Chi-raq helmer Spike Lee, are outraged that not a single African American actor has received an Oscar nomination for two years in a row.

Smith was an early Oscar favorite for his performance in Peter Landesman's Concussion.

He told Roberts, "[Jada and I] have discussed it, and we're part of this community but at this current time, we're uncomfortable to stand there and say that this is OK."

Tarantino: All my universes

Yes, there is a hidden super-duper-Da Vinci Code-esque mystical meaning that links up every one of Quentin Tarantino's films, the filmmaker himself admits.

In a bid to save more filmgeek brains from exploding, Tarantino gave the answer on Aussie talk show The Project.

QTar said all his films are linked by two separate "universes. . . . There is the realer-than-real universe, all right, and all the characters inhabit that one. But then there's this movie universe."

With us so far?

"So From Dusk Till Dawn [and] Kill Bill, they all take place in this special movie universe. So when all the characters of Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, when they go to the movies, Kill Bill is what they go to see. From Dusk Till Dawn is what they see."

Dude, I can see clearly now!
