Rihanna does hot selfies

Why does Rihanna post so many - sooo many! - photos on Instagram (she has 11 million followers) showing her in various states of undress?

"I think [people] think I'm drunk all the time. I think they think I am always partying, that my house is probably a party all the time with tons of people and tons of music and no clothes. I think that's what they think," Rihanna tells USA Today. Um, that was our theory.

No, says R, she's not about partying or nudie exhibitionism or drunken orgies.

"I'm actually very laid-back. I love watching TV on a big old couch by myself. I love to swim in the ocean or the pool."

R isn't all about the money: She's signed a new deal, to become the new face of Viva Glam's lipstick and lip gloss line. But she won't pocket the cash: Proceeds from the new line will go to Mac AIDS Fund.

"I can't really say I'm a role model. I'm not perfect," R says. "I want people to have fun but be responsible."

White House on Bieber case

The White House doesn't have a choice: By its own rules it must respond, officially, to a patriotic petition asking President Obama to throw "the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug-abusing" Justin Bieber out of our great nation. More than 106,000 people have signed the e-document. The White House will address petitions only after they've amassed 100,000 signatures. Will the prez deport Justin? Yeah, right.

A competing "Don't Deport Justin" petition has only amassed 1,500 signatures.

More troubles for Bieber

Oh, the Bieb's troubles aren't over! He was due Wednesday to present himself at a police station in Toronto to be formally charged in an assault on a limo driver in December.

ACM loves Lambert, McGraw

Miranda Lambert and Tim McGraw each have a leading seven nominations for this year's Academy of Country Music awards, it was announced Wednesday. Lambert is in a tough spot: She will compete for Entertainer of the Year with Blake Shelton, who is her husband. Nicole Kidman's man, Keith Urban, got six nods, while Kacey Musgraves is up for five. The April 6 kudosfest will air live on CBS.

Madonna butts in

She may be irrelevant, but Madonna still has celeb power: at least enough to let her share the spotlight.

She joined Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the Grammys. Then on Tuesday, the Material Mom popped in while Miley Cyrus was taping a set for MTV Unplugged. Madge joined Miley in a duet of "Don't Tell Me." Madge next will share in the glory surrounding punk trio and political activists Pussy Riot. She'll introduce them at the Amnesty International concert Feb. 5 in Brooklyn.

Gossip petits fours

Austin Mahone, 17, is not dating fellow cutie-pie singer Selena Gomez, 21, she tells People. . . . Hugh Grant, 53, fathered a child in September 2012 with Swedish TV producer Anna Elisabet Eberstein, London's The Sun claims. That's three months before Hugh's gf Tinglan Hong, gave birth to their second child together, son Felix.
