Flyers 2, Avalanche 1: Another goalie change, another improbable victory, and other quick observations
In his first game back since he hurt himself on Feb. 18, Michal Neuvirth made some nice saves - and left hurt again, replaced by Petr Mrazek. That makes four in the last eight games that Flyers coach Dave Hakstol has made a goaltending change.
After the Red Wings winless streak extended Jeff Blashill channeled his inner Philadelphia Eagle:. "Understanding how to fight through adversity. Nick Foles talked about it after they won the Super Bowl, how much adversity he's had to fight through."
It's convenient and misleading to pin this on a sudden slump. Yes, this team had a remarkable 10-0-2 streak in March, but towards its end, the errors that are proving toxic against a string of much better teams were often masked by the competition they sometimes played down to.
