Flyers' Claude Giroux edges South Jersey's Johnny Gaudreau for weekly NHL honor
Flyers left winger Claude Giroux was named the NHL's No. 1 star of the week after collecting six points in four games. The Flyers won all four.

LAS VEGAS — Flyers left winger Claude Giroux was named the NHL's No. 1 star of the week Monday.
Calgary left winger Johnny Gaudreau, a South Jersey native, was the No. 2 star, and Minnesota goalie Devan Dubnyk was the No. 3 star.
In four games, all wins, Giroux collected six points, including three goals. Giroux was scoreless in a 2-1 overtime win in Carolina — he sharply criticized his performance after the game — but then accumulated six points over the next three games.
Giroux had a goal and two assists in a 5-3 win over Montreal, and then tallied a goal in a 4-3 shootout victory in Arizona. Sunday, he had a goal and an assist as the Flyers registered a 4-1 win at best-in-the-Western Conference Vegas.
Giroux, 30, is tied for fourth in the NHL with 64 points — eight more points than his 2016-17 total. The Flyers' Jake Voracek, Edmonton's Connor McDavid, and Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos also have 64 points.
The Flyers will host New Jersey on Tuesday.
The speedy Gaudreau had two goals and five assists over his four games during the week. He is second in the NHL with 66 points. Dubnyk went 2-0-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average and .950 save percentage during the week.
