Devon Prep has been accepted as a new member of the Philadelphia Catholic League, beginning in the 2018-19 school year.

"Their presence will enhance our already stellar league and their on-campus facilities will provide our student-athletes with a great playing experience," said Joseph McFadden, Archbishop Ryan's principal and president of the PCL board of governors, in a press release. "We look forward to a mutually enhancing relationship."

Devon Prep, a member of the Bicentennial Athletic League, sponsors 10 varsity sports. In 2014, the Tide won the PIAA Class A state baseball title.

"We look for sports that express our Catholic values," said Rev. Francisco Jose Aisa, Devon Prep's headmaster. "We want our students to experience the value of teamwork, obedience, effort, humility, and truth. For that reason, we asked to join the Philadelphia Catholic League."

The PCL, with 17 members, crowns champions in 29 sports.

"Devon Prep will continue to strengthen our league's commitment in furthering the mission of Catholic education through interscholastic athletics," said Joe Sette, Archbishop Wood's athletic director and chairman of the PCL board of directors.

In baseball last season, Devon Prep advanced to the PIAA District 1 Class 2A final before losing to Christopher Dock.
