Phil Sheridan became an Inquirer sports columnist after covering the Eagles for seven years. He brings a seasoned and reasoned point of view to a landscape of frustrated fans. But Sheridan knows where they're coming from, being a Philadelphia native and a graduate of Temple University.

The formula for fixing the Eagles is simple enough: Hire a smart, up-and-coming young head coach and obtain a franchise quarterback. Shake well, serve hot, and wait for the Super Bowl runs to commence.
It is hard to grasp how things have gotten so bad for Andy Reid and the Eagles. A coach who once was reasonably compared to Bill Belichick is now just as reasonably compared to Rich Kotite and Ray Rhodes.
