Temple band hits big screen in 'Wolf of Wall Street' and 'Annie'

AMID THE Martin Scorsese-directed '90s debauchery of "The Wolf of Wall Street" lies . . . the Temple University Diamond Band.

In their underwear.

It turns out, Temple's finest have a scene in "Wolf," starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey and Cherry Hill's own Cristin Milioti (whom you may know as The Mother on "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS).

The film features DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, chronicling his rise from high-flying stockbroker to his eventual fall from grace after defrauding investors of hundreds of millions of dollars.

The band shows up in a celebratory scene, dancing around Belfort's office clad only in the their Skivvies, eventually led by co-star Jonah Hill (complete with protruding teeth and monster eyeglasses).

"The Wolf of Wall Street" hits theaters Christmas day, and was recently nominated for two Golden Globe awards, including best musical/comedy and a best-actor nod for DiCaprio.

But this isn't the only time the Temple marching band has hit the silver screen. They also appear in the remake of "Annie," produced by hometown hero Will Smith and Jay Z, and starring Jamie Foxx as neo-Daddy Warbucks, Benjamin Stacks; Cameron Diaz as the evil Miss Hannigan; and Quvenzhane Wallis, the Oscar-nominated star of last year's "Beasts of the Southern Wild" (and one snappy red-carpet dresser), as the titular orphan.

The band stands behind the cast as it belts out "Tomorrow," once a solo number, now a full-on ensemble performance. This time they're not in their underwear, though, but in their Temple band uniforms.

"Annie" is scheduled for a Dec. 18, 2014, release date.

Eskin wins big

Howard Eskin won $10,000 from the Borgata's Pick the Pros promotion, going 15-0 in choosing pigskin victors last week. Eskin, who hosts his SportsRadio WIP show at the Borgata, donated portions of his winnings to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Autism Speaks, the Philadelphia Zoo, the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia and the Borgata Heart & Soul Foundation.

Macnow (kinda) back

Glen Macnow took a hiatus Monday afternoon from his midday hosting gig on SportsRadio WIP because of ongoing contract negotiations with the station he's been with for 20 years. But Macnow was back yesterday for the Eagles pregame show with Hollis Thomas and Rob Charry. "No time to miss Birds!" Macnow tweeted.

Macnow clarified his position at the top of the show. "Before we get into two hours of good Eagles talk, let me just clarify my own situation, because I've been off the air since finishing my show on Monday," Macnow said. "My contract with WIP has ended. The station and I have been talking about my future, where it's going to be. We've agreed I'm not doing daily shows until that's worked out. Meanwhile, I still am under contract to do the pregame - and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else today."

OUT AND ABOUT

* The entire Eagles team dined at Del Frisco's last Thursday for an epic team-bonding session. The Birds sat upstairs and, sources tell me, "ordered anything with a big bone and steaks all around." Say what you will about yesterday's performance, at least you can't say they were lacking protein.

AJ McLean, Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys attended the Mix 106 & Q102 Toys for Tots Collection at Mix 106 & Q102 Performance Theatre on Saturday.
