Former Villanova AD Vince Nicastro moving to Big East

Former Villanova Athletic Director Vince Nicastro is moving on.

The Big East announced on Thursday that Nicastro has taken its newly-created position of Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer. He will start on June 8 and work out of the conference's headquarters in New York.

Last June, Nicastro resigned as AD after 15 years to become Associate Director of the Jeffrey Moorad Center for the Study of Sports Law at the Villanova School of Law.

"I am humbled to have the opportunity ... in this new role," Nicastro said in a statement. "Over the past two decades I have developed a strong association with, and affection for, the conference and its member institutions. I am excited to work ... in their efforts to build upon the conference's great tradition, and its national success."

Nicastro will have day-to-day oversight of the Big East's operations and business functions, including governance, compliance, finance, NCAA and institutional relations, Olympic sports championships, events, communications, marketing, sales and television and digital administration.

"His diversified skill set, extensive relationships and strong familiarity with our conference and the national landscape make him uniquely qualified and we expect him to hit the ground running," said Commissioner Val Ackerman.
