FOR THE first time, a team from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is hosting the NCAA Division II men's East Region.

Starting Saturday, Holy Family University in Northeast Philadelphia - which won the conference title last weekend with an 87-68 win over Philadelphia University in Orangeburg, N.Y. - will be the site of the eight-team tournament.

The winner advances to the Elite Eight in Frisco, Texas, March 23-26.

Top-seeded Holy Family (26-5) will play eighth-seeded Southern New Hampshire (22-10) at 5 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium, followed by fourth-seeded Stonehill (21-8) vs. fifth-seeded Bentley (21-8) at 7:30. In the afternoon, Southern Connecticut (22-7), the third seed, gets sixth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas (26-4) at noon. Then it's second-seeded Saint Anselm (21-7) against seventh-seeded Philly U (23-8) and Hall of Fame coach Herb Magee at 2:30.

The semifinals are Sunday at 5, with the final Tuesday at 7.

In the three seasons before Roman Catholic's R.C. Kehoe became the Tigers' coach, they went 17-65. Since then they're 99-47.

Tickets are $10, $5 for senior citizens, children and students with school ID.
