Poutine — the Canadian specialty involving gravy and cheese curds atop fries — will meet a South Philly cheesesteak on Thursday, Sept. 28 as part of a guest-chef series at Pat’s King of Steaks to benefit Spread the Wiz Foundation.
Matt and Rachel Baiada, owners of the Shoo Fry shops in Rittenhouse and Fishtown, will join Pat’s owner Frank E. Olivieri at Pat’s, Ninth Street and Passyunk Avenue.
Two items will be available from noon to 9 p.m.: a poutine cheesesteak made with Pat’s rib eye and rolls, and poutine fries, using Pat’s fries and Shoo Fry’s gravy and cheese curds.
Both will be priced at $10, with all proceeds going to the foundation, whose mission is to “educate, inform, and demonstrate healthy eating habits and nutrition in school-aged children through artistic and cooking expressions.”
Chefs including Marc Vetri and Jose Garces have participated in previous Spread the Wiz promotions.
