Center City’s newest hotel — the 179-room Aloft Philadelphia Downtown — soft-opens Thursday, Aug. 31 in the old Liberty Title & Trust building at Broad and Arch Streets, adjacent to the Convention Center’s Broad Street frontage.

The hotel bar — known as W XYZ and open from 4 p.m. to midnight daily — is set up in the building’s grand, second-floor lobby, serving wine, beer, cocktails, and bites. There’s a terrace with a fire pit outside.

W XYZ also will host free performances by emerging local performers as part of a Live at Aloft Hotel series.

Following are some recent preopening looks at the space.
