Mr. October: Carson Wentz named NFC offensive player of the month

The QB led the Eagles to a 5-0 record for the month.

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is the NFC offensive player of the month for October, the NFL announced Thursday.

Wentz is the first Eagle to win the award since LeSean McCoy in December 2013.

Wentz completed 89 of 148 passes (60.1 percent) for 1,247 yards, 14 touchdowns, three interceptions, and a 110.4 passer rating during the month. Wentz and the Eagles were 5-0 in October. Wentz led all NFC quarterbacks in passing TDs and passer rating. The 14 touchdown passes were the most thrown by an Eagles quarterback in a month in franchise history.

Wentz produced three of the top four performances of his career, in terms of passer rating, in Week 5 vs. Arizona (128.3), Week 6 at Carolina (110.7), and Week 7 vs. Washington (126.3). Wentz also recorded three games with three or more passing touchdowns, including two with a career-high-tying four.

Wentz won NFC Offensive Rookie of the Month honors in September 2016. This season, Wentz was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Redskins in Week 7.
