Sixers' Ben Simmons named Eastern Conference player of week
The rookie point guard averaged 18.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists in leading the Sixers to a 4-0 record last week.

ATLANTA – Ben Simmons was named Monday the NBA's Eastern Conference player of the week.
The 76ers rookie point guard averaged 18.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists while leading his team to a 4-0 record this past week. His best game came in Friday's 132-130 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Wells Fargo Center. He had 27 points, 15 rebounds, 13 assists, four steals and one block.
This marks the first time that Simmons has received this weekly award. However, the Australian native has been named the conference's rookie of the month for October/November, January and February.
He's averaging 16.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.7 steals this season. With just two games remaining, he's on pace to join Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson as the only rookies in NBA history to average 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists for a season.
Covington’s three-point milestone
There was a time when Robert Covington was criticized for being in a shooting slump. Not anymore. Now people are talking about his three-point milestone and defense.
Covington made three three-pointers in Sunday's 109-97 victory over the Dallas Mavericks to join former Sixer Kyle Korver as the only players in franchise history make at least 200 three-pointers in a season. Korver set the franchise record of 226 during the 2004-05 season. Covington has 201.
Covington also leads the NBA with 19 steals in April. The small forward headed into Monday's game as the only league player with at least 10 steals and 10 blocks in the month.
